Wolverines win Regional Championship The Holdenville High School girls basketball team earned the Regional Championship Trophy last Saturday by whipping the Millwood Falcons on their home floor. The Wolverines led throughout the game but had to fight off a late 4th quarter Falcon surge to bring home the championship hardware, Holdenville jumped out to a 24-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and expanded the lead to 31-12 at the half.
Kase Sipes looks beyond a Casady defender in the Wolverines first round of the Regional Tournament. Sipes scored 10 points in the contest.

Wolverines Win District The Holdenville boys’ and girls’ basketball teams earned district championships with impressive wins over the Henryetta Knights! The girls began the Saturday night contests with a 7235 win and the boys followed with a 70-50 win. The District Championship plaque was the second trophy the girls earned last week.
Holdenville Wolverine big man, Gage Smith, fights with a Stroud defender for rebound position. The Wolverines defeated the Tigers 70-54.

Holdenville splits with Chandler The Wolverines traveled to Chandler last Friday and the games could be summarized by saying the girls couldn’t miss and the boys couldn’t hit. The Holdenville girls opened the evening with a 67-28 lopsided victory over the Lions.
Jordan Stafford lets a shot fly in Holdenville’s game at Chandler. Holdenville win end the regular season on Monday night and host the district tournament on Saturday.

Both Wolverine Teams win 2 lose 1 The Wolverines began the week with a clash with their Hwy 270 rival, Wewoka, a Thursday road trip to Bethel and a Saturday trip to Konawa. The Holdenville boys gave the Wewoka Tigers a good ole fashion beat down.

SCHOLAR ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Allyson Inselman is the Holdenville News female scholar athlete of the week. Allyson has a perfect straight ‘A’ average. The Holdenville High School junior won multiple trophies in the local livestock show last Saturday and then made the trip to Konawa and helped the Wolverines defeat the Tigers.

Wolverines win two at Prague There’s an old saying amongst some coaches that “they would rather play good and lose than play bad and win.” The problem with that philosophy comes when you try to determine how to record wins and losses! The best philosophy is a win is a win is a win! And, a won-loss record only shows how games are won and lost. Neither Holdenville team played their best basketball of the season at Prague but the Wolverines still won both games.
Holdenville’s Izaia King was too quick for this Prague defender. KIng has been selected as the Oklahoma Football Coaches Association class 2A all-star quarterback. The Wolverine senior was too quick for defenders to catch on the football field too.
