The following article about his successful pizza business, ran in the Hughes County Tribune around 1992.
Spotlight Business of the Week Jumpin’ Jack’s Pizza
“Whether you want to pick up your pizza or have it delivered, the place to call is Jumpin’ Jack s Pizza. At Jack’s you get old fashioned hand-tossed crust, with such a wide variety of toppings that you can have it your way all the time Jack’s pizza always arrives fresh and hot and ready for you to have a delicious meal.
Tired of pizza? At Jumpin Jack’s, you can also get a full spaghetti dinner with salad and garlic bread. Owner Jack Holmes makes no bones about his secret sauce, as he proclaims, ‘It’s the best spaghetti sauce in the whole wide world.” Then, for another change order a mouthwatering meatball sandwich or a scrumptious ham and cheese, with any of Jack s delicious dishes delivered right to your door. Jack and his co-managers, Jennifer Bleeker and Debbie Sanford, see to it that your order from Jumpin’ Jack’s is always tasteful and on time. Holmes returned to Holdenville, from Florida, in 1991, to write a book and he did, the book, called “Butterfly” is well written and worth reading, but, unfortunately, it was never published. Holmes, and two partners, researched the food business in Holdenville and decided the pizza business was where the money was. The partners quickly dropped out and this left Holmes with the full ownership of the restaurant. Jumpin Jack’s Pizza opened in August of 1991 at 325 E. Main and moved to its present location, at 200 E. Main, about a year later. The business will soon move again, as Holmes is erecting a new building at 700 N. Hinckley with a unique construction method, utilizing five by five-inch weather resistant timbers. The new building should be complete, and the business moved there, by sometime in May, said Holmes.
Presently, the business hours for the great Jumpin’ Jack’s Pizza are 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Saturday, but Holmes says he plans to be open longer hours and seven days a week when they moved to the Hinckley location.”
Jumpin’ Jack is a legend in our eyes. He was never afraid to “jump” right in and get his hands dirty in whatever he endeavored to do. He was a great friend and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
