Kristy Lashbrook, 49, of Holdenville, Oklahoma, was born on July 9th, 1972 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Bill and Charlotte (Hamilton) Nall. After a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023, Kristy passed away in the presence of her family and close friends.

Kristy was raised in and graduated from Holdenville, class of 1991. After High School, Kristy spent time working various jobs in and around Holdenville. At the age of 32, Kristy would go on to complete her EMT Basic license from Gordon Cooper Technology Center and find her calling in life. Kristy began her career with Hughes County EMS in 2006. With encouragement from her coworkers and friends, Kristy would return to Gordon Cooper and complete the EMT Paramedic course, passing the course with ease.

Kristy had a natural gift and calling for serving and caring for people. By 2010, Kristy had excelled in her field and assumed the role as Director of EMS for Hughes County, being the youngest and the first female director in Hughes County history simultaneously. Taking care of the community that raised her and navigating her EMS service brought a great sense of pride and joy for Kristy. Kristy was also very savvy financially, transforming the level of care Hughes County EMS could provide with bonds and trust from the state. In this same process, Kristy had established a legacy of honesty and integrity and her impact to the community will be felt for the rest of Hughes County history.

In 2015, Kristy had received the highest possible recognition to an EMS professional in Oklahoma – the Star of Life award, which celebrates the contributions of ambulance professionals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in service to their communities or the EMS profession. Kristy also served with FEMA on two hurricane relief deployments, received three childbirth awards and has received numerous code saves in her career.

Since 2015, Hughes County EMS is only 1 out of 5 ambulance services in the state to be recognized by the American Heart Association for their outstanding heart attack care known as Mission Lifeline. In 2017, Hughes County EMS was awarded Service of the Year by the American Ambulance Service. All of this was made possible by Kristy and the support of excellent staff by her side at Hughes County.

Kristy went on the marry her best friend and soul mate David Lashbrook on March 31, 2018, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Together, they enjoyed remodeling their home, taking care of their pets, bird watching in the backyard, cheering on Michigan football, and tall glasses of PBR beer with Mango Habanero wings from Buffalo Wild Wings.

Kristy was also known for being an amazing cook. Kristy enjoyed crafts and painting. She loved to decorate her home for the holidays, especially with her Christmas trees and countless Santa Clauses. But above all, her family was her world, close and far.

Kristy’s final request and advice to her family and friends was “Please don’t be angry and mad at God”. She went on to say, “you can visit there briefly, just don’t unpack” and also, “Finish what we started.”

She is survived by her husband David Lashbrook of the home. Her mother Charlotte Love of Holdenville, Oklahoma. Father Bill Nall and wife Donna of Calvin, Oklahoma. Her son Darrien Lashbrook and his wife Sierra of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Brothers Gene Nall and his wife Amy of Auburn, Indiana, and Clint Love and his wife Megan of Spaulding, Oklahoma.
