HARVEY DALE LEE PASSES AWAY

Harvey Dale Lee was born on September 15, 1943 in Mesa, Arizona to Leon Lee and Atha Joy Shields. He left this life on August 24, 2024 in Holdenville, Oklahoma.

Harvey attended Moss and Holdenville Public Schools. He married Marlene Leewright on July 3, 1964 and they had one daughter together, Dana Lee Cook. He later married Phyllis Wingo on September 28, 1977 and they had two daughters together, Shawnaree Lee and Lana Dale Simon. He was the perfect “girl dad.” He was a proud grandfather and was known as “PaPa Harvey” to his eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He joined the United States Air Force in 1963 and served four years, with assignments in Da Nang, Vietnam and Thailand. He was honorably discharged in 1967. He moved to Port Neches Texas afterwards and began his career as a heavy machinery mechanic, although he could fix anything with a motor. He later moved to Winnie Texas and then on to Houston in 1972 where he lived for the next 12 years.

He returned to Oklahoma in 1984 and made his home in the Horntown/ Lamar area where he worked for Moss schools as a bus mechanic and driver until his retirement in 2004. Harvey loved watching high school basketball, softball and baseball. He was a proud supporter of his grandchildren as they played through the years and was an especially vocal and enthusiastic fan of the Moss Pirates/Lady Pirates.

He enjoyed fixing up old tractors, playing dominoes and listening to George Jones. On most days he could be found shooting the breeze, talking politics, and solving the world’s problems with the guys at Lee’s store.

He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Texas Banner Church of God. When it came to his faith, he was a doer and not a talker. He was generous to a fault and did not care about the “things of this world.” He chose people over possessions always and personified the scripture in Philippians 4:12....”I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want”. He was a good and faithful friend to many, and an amazing son, brother, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his mother Joy Simmons; sisters Linda Wingo and Brenda Griggs; daughters Shawnaree Lee, Lana and husband Ead Simon, and Dana and husband Greg Cook; grandchildren Jordan Cook, Austin Cook, Skylar Lee Hamlett, Dylan Rose Beeson, Isaac Camen Beeson, Cooper Simon, Coby Simon and Camden Simon; and great-grandchildren Carter, Canaan, Cason, Zane, Everly and Macrae.

Memorial service was 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 28th, at Texas Banner Church with Pastor Eddie Wrinkle officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Barrett, Kennie Pattison, Scott Olivo, Gary Shields, Randy Brown, Buddy Griggs and Hardy Wingo.

Services are under the direction of Hudson-Phillips Funeral Home, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
