Congratulations to two of our favorite people for this wonderful honor!.

You may have seen him around town. You may even know his name. You may have met him while camping at the lake but a few people actually know how much Waylon Ford does for this community. This newspaper is not quite sure when Waylon sleeps because while he is sometimes off the clock, he is never off the job. He is our lake superintendent, is now tending to the cemetery duties, and assists on water leaks all over town. There is nothing that he won’t do. Waylon will be the first to tell you that he does not do his job for the paycheck but out of his love for this town and its people. Next time you see Waylon out at the lake or digging a grave or ankle deep in water on the side of the road with a shovel in his hand give him a big thank you, for he truly deserves to be our citizen of the week!

Good morning to you. Hope you have enjoyed this beautiful snow but I am ready to see dry land again. I don’t remember it ever being this cold and so many days of snow. Springtime sure sounds good now! For our Bible reading today, let’s look at John 13: verses 1-9: (1) Now before the feast of the Passover, when JESUS knew that HIS hour was come that HE should depart out of this world unto the FATHER, having loved HIS own which were in the world, HE loved them unto the end; (2) And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray HIM; (3) JESUS know that the FATHER had given all things into HIS hands, and that HE was come from GOD, and went to GOD; (4) HE riseth from supper, and laid aside HIS garments; and took a towel, and girded HIMSELF. (5) After that HE poureth water into a bason, and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith HE was girded. (6) Then cometh HE to Simon Peter: and Peter said unto HIM, LORD, dost THOU wash my feet? (7) JESUS answered and said unto him, What I do thou knowest not now; but thou shalt know hereafter. (8) Peter saith to HIM, THOU shalt never wash my feet. JESUS answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with Me. Following the Great “Snowklahomapocalypse of 2021,” the sub-zero temperatures have retreated, the snow has quickly melted, and Holdenville residents will have some warmer weather this week to finish pruning their shrubs for spring or gathering dead limbs and branches before the city-wide brush pickup begins next week on March 1.

TULSA — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), have announced a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification and/or arrest of the suspect responsible for the burglary and theft of 16 firearms from Easy Pawn, a federal firearms licensee (FFL), located at 500 West Main Street, Holdenville, Oklahoma.
