Mayor Massad Restores Power to the People

Body
It’s hard to imagine how a city the size of Holdenville could be in debt close to $70 million for anything, let alone for the purpose of a recreational lake expansion. You may be wondering how that could possibly happen without the taxpayer, the ones responsible for paying back such an egregious amount of money, having any say so in the matter at all? You aren’t the only one. Speaking with leaders and board members from several committees all across the state, they all seem to be wondering the same thing. The answer to that question is complex, but it is clear. It did not happen overnight, and it did not happen in a single city council meeting. There were several steps by different city officials which paved the city of Holdenville’s way to the brink of bankruptcy.
