Holdenville Public Schools would like to recognize the accomplishments of Mayson Carpitcher and Eliza Maylen. Both Mayson and Eliza earned All-State Honors this year by earning a spot in the Oklahoma Small School All-State Band.

American Legion Post 204 is flying a burial flag the month of March in honor of a fallen Vietnam veteran and former police officer. This month’s flag, which is being flown in Seminole’s Veterans Park, honors Jesse Jack Jones, Jr., who passed away in January 2017.

Oklahoma State Representative David Smith has teamed up with the Holdenville News and the Hughes County Tribune to provide high school seniors in Hughes County an opportunity to earn a $500 scholarship. War Day #17 // On choice and paradise during war times (We’re alive and well.) This week, Hallow’s Lent reflections were focused on the second phrase Jesus uttered on the cross: “Today you will be with me in paradise.” During this time of war, I have been reflecting a lot on how my understanding of numerous Bible passages has changed and transformed. I have always been a peace-loving person and I don’t like conflicts between people.
