It is no secret there is a small group of people who have opposed Mayor Massad on every single major issue since his election in April 2019. Their bitterness and hatred have only continued to grow over the past three years. That was never more evident than at last Tuesday’s Holdenville city council meeting when discussion and debate quickly devolved into shouting and calls for removal of private citizens.

This past Sunday, Oklahoma District #18 State Representative David Smith came to the Holdenville Church of the Nazarene to present Mary Evelyn Wilson with a citation from the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

WASHINGTON – A member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma was sentenced today to more than 12 years in prison for his conduct in connection with a homicide that took place in 2017 within Indian Country in Oklahoma. The defendant was sentenced to 155 months for kidnapping and 120 months for being a felon in possession of a firearm, to run concurrently, followed by five years’ supervised release.

Michael Scroggins, son of Brother Earl and Sister Sandy Scroggins sang an incredibly moving rendition of “Watch the Lamb” to close the service. Michael is pictured above with his wife, Melissa.

April 9, the Red Hat Ladies were royally entertained by the Young at Heart Group at the Texas Banner First Assembly of God Fellowship Hall. Name cards were scattered along the U-shape tables along with spring flowers and our napkin rings were even made out of the same spring flowers. We had our choice of peach or raspberry tea. What a treat! The buffet had all kinds of cheese, crackers, pickles, spinach dip, tuna salad, chicken salad and fruit dip. Oh Wow!

The most common question I’ve received throughout my professional life as a public high school teacher has been some variation of this: “How do you handle not being able to speak freely about your Chris-tian faith in the classroom?”

Today marks the 27th anniversary of the bombing of the the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, which killed 168 people.
