Save-a-Lot Grocery

Body One early morning in March of 1962, my family was awakened by smoke and flames billowing out of our grocery store at 924 N. Hinckley.
Saturday will mark the Grand Re-Opening of a grocery store that has served this area for over 80 years. The name has changed from Burton’s IGA to Save-a-Lot but it is still family owned by the Burton’s daughter, Linda and her husband John Gibbs. The original store is pictured above. We recently found the story published the week that the present location had their grand opening in May 1962.
