OCPA CALLS FOR REFORM IN JUDICIAL NOMINATION PROCESS

At a recent meeting with local Hughes County Republicans, Tyler Williamson, a representative from the Oklahoma Council on Public Affairs (OCPA), laid out his organization’s concerns with the way judges are nominated to the Oklahoma Supreme Court. Williamson explained that Oklahoma’s process differs significantly from the Madisonian model used for the U.S. Supreme Court, where the President nominates candidates and the Senate advises and consents.

Holdenville Lions Club started the year off with a fish fry get together at Wes Watkins Technology Center. After the delicious meal, Lion Lori Woods was inducted as the new Holdenville Lions Club President by outgoing President Lion Jack Bush. She is excited to lead the club during this year with the help of VP Lion Ernie Arocha, Sec. Lion Jerrie Lindsey, Treas. Lion Steve Enos and Tail Twister Lion Leon Barrett. The officers and club members look forward to a great year of supporting the Holdenville Community, and Lions International projects as well. Lion Jack Bush has served as the President for several years, and the Holdenville Lions wish to thank him for his service and leadership!!

FREE CLINIC OPENS OCTOBER 28 IN HOLDENVILLE

HOLDENVILLE LIONS CLUB ELECTS NEW PRESIDENT

The Holdenville Lions Club recently held an installation ceremony at Wes Watkins Technology Center for incoming officers and elected Lori Woods as the new 2024-2025 president. The mission of the Lions Club is to identify and meet needs within the community. Lori, a team member in the Workforce and Economic Development department at WWTC, has been involved with the Lions Club for the past three years and previously served as the vice-president. Her position in WWTC’s Workforce and Economic Development department helps to cultivate partnerships with community organizations while cre-ating business connections within local communities.
