Red Hatters Gather for June Meeting

Body
On June 12, we had nine ladies and a visitor that met at Hemingway’s for a fabulous lunch. It is so much fun just to get together as we don’t get to see some of our ladies for a whole month! The board room was all set up and we had a wonderful waitress named Di. The table was decorated with yellow and white daisies with the prizes as the center piece. Margie Mairel and Lynn Marquis were hostess this month.
RED HATTERS ENJOYING THE RECENT MONTHLY GATHERING ARE: (front row) Wanda Price, Margie Mairel, Lynn Marquis and Wanda Shaw. (back row) Glenda Stinson, Diane Bowman, Helen Wright, Cindy McDaniel, Debbie Fine, Linda Tyler and Avery.

Good morning to you. It has finally turned summer time and the heat is on. Let’s hope this summer passes as fast as the rest of the year has! For our Study today I would like for you to visualize the word, disciple. What comes to your mind? Do you see the twelve men in sandals traveling through Galilee with JESUS? Or do you see a Church like yours filled with people with open Bibles in their hands? Either we think of a disciple in terms of the first-century apostles, or we think of a disciple as a souped-up version of an ordinary Christian, someone more enthused for CHRIST than others. But the word disciple was the primary New testament word to describe ordinary believers like you and me. That term occurs thirty times in the books of Acts, and it isn’t limited to the twelve disciples in the Bible.

It’s a Winner! Everyone loves a winner! Oklahoma fans especially love a winner! The University of Oklahoma softball team produced a National Championship and the crimson and cream crowd has suddenly developed a severe love for softball! Oklahoma State put an excellent team on the field this year too! Oklahoma State didn’t bring home a national championship trophy but they earned the right to play in the college world series and that’s quite an accomplishment. There are two levels of softball fans.
Jaxson Teel took some time out from summer athletics to go fishing with his Papa. Twenty years from now will he remember what happened in summer athletics? Or will he remember catching a 20 pound blue cat?

Spring Car Show Rides Into Town

Body
The annual Holdenville Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture Spring Car Show filled the streets in all directions from the intersection of Broadway and 7th Street with highly interesting cars, trucks, motorcycles and other vehicles on Saturday, June 5. The slight chance of rain that had been predicted never arrived during the show, and the overcast skies kept temperatures pleasant for most of the day.
POPULAR VAN - John Fiely of McAlester took home two of the trophies that were designed specifically for the Spring Car Show on Saturday. Fiely won 1st Place in both the Special Interest and theChamber’s Choice categories with his 1964 Chevy van, which had a 60’s style customized interior. A full list of all the winners will be in next week’s Holdenville News.
