Hughes County Retired Educators will be meeting on Monday, September 19, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at San Luis Restaurant.

Fairview reunion will be held Saturday, September 10 at the Holdenville First United Bank Conference room. The gather will begin at 10:00pm and end at 2:00pm..

Tonight, September 6, the Holdenville City Council will vote to restore law and order to the City of Holdenville with the hiring of a new police chief. The Holdenville Police Department has been in shambles in recent months due to the lack of leadership within the department. The department’s only remaining two officers were fired last week leaving the town with no city police. The entire department, just as every other aspect of the City of Holdenville, has become completely politicized. Every personnel issue, along with every other problem in the city, is used as another chance to slam the mayor by his political enemies. Every chance the mayor’s political enemies have to publicly bash him, they will use, even elected officials and law enforcement.

Hughes County Deputies worked an accident Saturday night, August 27 at approximately 11:30pm. Cord Phillips, who was driving his brand new motorcycle had slowed to turn off of East Highway 270 onto Rogers Drive in front of Holdenville Pizza Hut when a vehicle traveling approximately 55 mph driven by a minor hit him from behind. A Hughes County Deputy arrived shortly after the crash. The driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended less than a mile from the scene of the accident. Phillips was Medi-Flighted out of Holdenville General Hospital and the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody by Creek Nation Lighthorse.

Jesus was without sin in His earthly body, but He had limitations just like you and I have. But in His resurrection body, Jesus was vastly superior. On several occasions, Jesus was able to materialize in a place at will. He had abilities in His new body that He did not have in His original body.

By Ken Childers Editor, Seminole Producer Outgoing District Attorney Paul Smith has resigned from a teaching position at Holdenville Public Schools after coming under fire for taking the job while he was still in office. Smith, who represents District 22 (Seminole, Hughes, and Pontotoc Counties), was appointed as District Attorney in 2017 following the resignation of his predecessor, Chris Ross.

Jon Wiseman said “This year, our team’s vision and goal is a year of service to our community. We are incredibly fortunate to live in a community where FFA is a priority, and where we are given the opportunity to work with the community.” Wiseman said he is looking forward to his year of service with the officer team.
