Wolverine Sports by Tom Turner

Body
The Holdenville School girls’ basketball team didn’t play well the first time they faced off with an extremely good Okemah team. The final score of 61-41 indicated a total dominance by the Panthers. Holdenville was embarrassed! They knew they were a better team than the 20 point losing margin indicated thus the girls had something to prove when the met the Panthers again in the 66 Conference Tournament! The girls did prove they were better than they played against Okemah the first time. This time the 66 Conference Tournament Championship was on the line and Holdenville came to play for the trophy. The Wolverines played like a totally different team than they did just 11 days earlier when Okemah embarrassed them on the Wolverines home court. This time Wolverines were dominate! The resulting score of 56-41 not only reestablished Holdenville’s respect as a team to be reckoned with but it earned them a trophy to be cherished for decades to come.
