Holdenville Girls Fall in Area The Holdenville High School girls’ basketball team went into the area with high hopes of making it to the state tournament. Very few Wolverine basketball teams have ever made it to state and this squad almost became one of those rare state tournament teams that earned a spot in the bracket.
Isabella ( Bella ) Smith is the Holdenville News Scholar Athlete of the Week. Bella is a straight “A” student and a standout on both the Wolverine softball and basketball team.

VOTER REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHES

Friday, March 8th, is the last day to apply for voter registration in order to be eligible to vote in the April 2nd Special Election Wetumka School District I-05, Moss School District I-01, Allen School District Propositions and Board member Races and City of Holdenville Hospital proposition and City of Wetumka propositions, Hughes County Election Board Secretary Brandy Davis said today.

The Holdenville Lions Club began February with Mike Lindley as our guest speaker. He is the WED – Workforce and Economic Development Director at Wes Watkins Tech Center in Wetumka. He informed the Lions members about some of the training that Wes Watkins has available to get the student into a good paying job when they finish the training. Some of those include truck driving, bus driver, man-lift and fork-lift. Also office skills such as excel and quick books, and child development classes are available. He stated that training can be tailored to the needs of a business or set up when there is demand for the course. During the business portion of the meeting the Treasurer, Lion Steve Enos, reported that the Regular and Service accounts are both in very good shape for the rest of this year.
