Early in the current school year, the seniors met and elected their class officers. Pictured above, left to right, Charles Stanford, president; Lee Horne vicepresident; and Beverly Kennedy, secretary and treasurer. The class chose four representatives to the student council. They were Nancy Walker, Helen Edwards, Alberta Leach, and Brent Adams. The student body elected the student council officers from the senior class. They were David George, president; Jerry Apple, vice-president; and Charles Stanford, secretary and treasurer.

Memorial Service Honors Longtime Holdenville Businessman John Gibbs

John Stanley Gibbs was born on September 9, 1936, with a fishing pole in one hand and a shotgun in the other. His dad, Eddie Gibbs, and his mother, Marty Gibbs, lived in Oklahoma City at the time but soon moved to Seminole, OK and then to Shidler, OK to a Phillips Pipeline camp. John was the oldest of three children, with younger siblings Sue and Bill. Before his senior year at Shidler High School, his dad took a promotional job with Phillips Petroleum in Del City, OK and John finished high school at Midwest City High School. Shortly after, John attended Northern Oklahoma Junior College and then Central State University.

Gladys Ruth Elliott, age 92, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on June 25, 2025. She was born on December 21, 1932, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to Eugene Verner and Vera (Saunders) Clark.

Naomi Ruth Tiger passed away June 14th, 2025 peacefully at her home on June 14, 2025 at the age of 81. Naomi was born August 1st, 1943 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Dickie Tiger and Mary B (Burgess) Tiger.

Services for Clyde Eugene Leach, 76, of Ada will be held Tuesday, July 8 at 1 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Ada. Reverend Dean Stone will officiate with Jim Sanders delivering the reading of the obituary. Interment will immediately follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, July 7 from 5-7 p.m. at Criswell Funeral Home.
