CITY ADDRESSES WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT ISSUES WITH DEQ

Holdenville, OK – At the recent Holdenville Public Works meeting, Bryan Mitchell from Parkhill provided an update on the ongoing issues at the city’s wastewater treatment plant, highlighting significant strides made in response to the Department of Environmental Quality’s (DEQ) consent orders.

Back by popular demand, Ceramic Class instructed by June Melton. Classes are family oriented for 10 years and older accompanied by an adult. The class will complete a coiled pot ready to fire, and then glaze and fire for completion. The class has limited space with room for 10 participants. Classes are scheduled for Saturday, July 13th, 9:00 am to noon to construct your piece and Saturday, July 27th, 9:00 am to noon to glaze at the Art Center in Holdenville. Attendance of both classes is required to complete the project due to kiln time and glazing. Partial proceeds benefit HSPS.

HSPS SUMMER ART HUGE SUCCESS

The Summer Art Program was a big hit this year! The enrollment was full well before the first class began. The classes began June 10th with classes in drawing, tempura painting, watercolor, pastels, clay, mixed media projects and music. We want to thank the teachers that helped make the 2024 Summer Art Program a big success! JoDawna Smith, Colson Hall, Risa Austin and Laura Calvary thank you for your time and dedication!

Ronald Keith Hardwick passed away Monday, July 1st, 2024, at the age 68. Ronald was born August 24, 1955 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Emery Doyle Hardwick and Shirley (Yarberry) Hardwick.

Robert Ray Simmons

Robert Ray Simmons was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on October 11, 1932. He went to his heavenly home at the age of 91 on July 5, 2024. Robert married the love of his life, Mae Simmons, on December 21, 1954, and they enjoyed 69 wonderful years together.

Wolverine Softball Girls have been busy The Holdenville Defender 8U softball team put their ring hands on home plate to commemorate their season. The rings were awarded to the Defenders for their runner-up performance in the World Series! Holdenville Defenders World Series Runner-up The Holdenville Defenders 8U softball team earned a trip to the World Series with a perfect 22-0 season record and came up a bit short of winning the championship trophy.
