Dust boiled as horses, cars, and people made their way into the rodeo grounds. I silently urged Dad to hurry and park, so I could join my hometown folks and furnish some entertainment. He took his sweet time finding a place with enough room for the car and trailer. Finally, we unloaded Chigger and Shorty.

An area musician and songwriter composed a song of hope following the April outbreak of tornados that claimed a total of four lives, including two young victims in Holdenville. The song soon took on a life of its own, and will hopefully help benefit the families of the the two Holdenville victims.
OKLAHOMA STRONG - BJ “Lorde Butta” Owens, owner of Lotus Grove Studios in Holdenville (left), was greatly impressed the first time he heard a short clip of the song, Oklahoma Strong, James Ross, left, was writing. Owens dropped his studio fees and recruited a large number of area musicians, producers, and business owners to help record and promote the song, with proceeds being donated to the families of the two victims that were claimed by the April 27 tornado that struck Holdenville.

HOLDENVILLE RESIDENT SENTENCED FOR FEDERAL FIREARM CHARGE

MUSKOGEE, OKLAHOMA – The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma announced that Christopher Bryant Dilbeck, age 28, of Holdenville, Oklahoma, was sentenced to 18 months in prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammu- nition.

STABBING SUSPECT ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH HOLDENVILLE STABBING

A man wanted in con-nection to a stabbing in Holdenville earlier this month was arrested over the weekend in Seminole County. On July 5, the District 22 Task Force, an arm of Dis-trict Attorney Erik John-son’s office, announced that a search was under- way for Michael Calvert, who was suspected of com-mitting assault with a deadly weapon earlier that morning.
