Holdenville High School’s Golden Pride band has another reason to celebrate as Ty Phillips, an accomplished saxophonist, secured top honors in the Oklahoma Music Educators Association (OkMEA) All-State Symphonic Band.

In a recent City Council meeting, the residents of Holdenville received unsettling news about the state of the city’s wastewater treatment plant. The City of Holdenville has received a violation letter from the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), shedding light on a persistent issue that dates back to 2021.

Each week the first thing I read in the paper is John Bill’s column. They are all great, but his Thanksgiving column is one of my alltime favorites. John Bill is a life-long friend and a multi-talented individual. Our readers look forward to his weekly column. We appreciate him so very much.

As Christmas carols were sung and Christmas bells rung, Henry thought back on two tremendous tragedies that darkened his holiday spirit. His loving wife, Frances, had been fatally burned in an accident in their home. Then his son, Charles, had been severely wounded in the war.
