OFFICER STABBED AT HOLDENVILLE PRISON ON DAY OF RENAMING

The name may have changed, but violence continues to plague a former private prison in Holdenville, including the day it was renamed for an officer who was fatally stabbed at a different facility. A prisoner stabbed a correctional officer at the former Davis Correctional Facility the morning of Oct.

OKLAHOMA FARM BUREAU FOUNDATION AWARDS MINI GRANT TO HOLDENVILLE 4H CLUB

Holdenville 4H was recently awarded a mini grant from The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture. No one from Hughes County has ever been awarded this grant before. We are honored and thrilled to have received it! We plan to purchase Sheep Livestock Judging Materials for our Livestock Judging Team and our club. The kit not only has livestock judging material but also species specific animal husbandry material and material that will be used for meat judging.

Carl Willis Morse

Carl Willis Morse, husband, father, and the best grandpa who ever lived was born July 9, 1928 in Okfuskee County, Oklahoma to Claude Augusty Morse and Mamie Grace Lester Morse. Carl graduated from Yukon High School and joined the US Air Force in 1948. After serving two years stateside, he served in Guam during the Korean conflict, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant before leaving the service in 1952.
