Holdenville High School football fans will get their first look at the 2023 Wolverine football team at 6:30 Thursday evening when Konawa and Okemah come to town. The three way scrimmage will give locals a taste of the season to come. Holdenville has practiced for a week and the Wolverines are eager to test their skills against the Panthers and Tigers.
Legendary University of Oklahoma Basketball Coach, Sherry Coale, presented a workshop for Wolverine athletes titled ‘What’s Holding You Back? - What Drives Winning? ‘ The workshop featured a long discussion between Coach Coale and Wolverine senior, Izaia King.

Profound proclamations concerning life When you stand in front of a classroom of children for 57 years as I so enjoyably did, you encounter all sorts of questions, mostly about your personal life and sometimes about whatever topic we might have been discussing in class. Many of the questions were very provocative, others nosy and some inspired me and others to think up some answers to use as ready replies.

William “Johnny” Gerald Freeman passed away Tuesday, August 1st, 2023 at his home in Sasakwa, Oklahoma at the age of 75. Johnny was born November 26th, 1947 in Wewoka, Oklahoma to Charles Napoleon Freeman and Freda Victoria (Cathey) Freeman. Johnny graduated from Sasakwa High School. He excelled in baseball during his high school years. Johnny worked as a pumper in the oil and gas industry. He loved his family and friends Johnny is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Freda Freeman, brothers; Russell, Lou, Benny and Jimmy Freeman. He is survived by his children; Kristi Milligan of Norman, Jennifer Economou of Yukon and Christopher Freeman of Houston, numerous grandchildren, and sister Lucille Gravlee of Enid. Johnny is survived by numerous other family and friends. Memorial service will be 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 16, 2023 at Harvest Time Church with Gail Beck officiating. Gathering meal will be served before the service at 5:00 P.M. at the church.

Kelly Smith founded Holdenville Animal Lover’s Association (HALO)in May of 2017. Initially conceptualized as providing some support services to the City operated Animal Shelter, HALO has now grown into a nationally recognized organization dedicated to sparing abandoned dogs from euthanasia.
