Service Saturday for

Wolverine Sports by Tom Turner

Body
It seems it was just a few days ago when the Wolverine faithfuls gathered in the First Baptist Activity Center to heap accolades on the sports heroes of the 2022-2023 sports seasons. Proper homage was paid to the athletes who made sports history! There were many, many comments and well deserved complements that filled the evening! The Wolverine Sports Banquet closed the book on the 2022-2023 season and the preparations began for the future.
Jerry Moeller is the Holdenville News selection as the Greatest of All Time at the tight end position. After finishing a stellar career as a Wolverine football and basketball player, Jerry earned a starting position at tight end at the University of Tulsa.

Many accomplishments in Mayor’s term

Body
Often times, people assume that all they know is all there is to know. They assume that if they don’t know something, it simply must be because it hasn’t happened. Nothing could be truer for those who spend a good portion of their time on Facebook criticizing the work of Holdenville’s former mayor, John Massad. John Massad worked around the clock to keep this city propped up and functioning week to week during his time in office. The idea that the mayor worked “parttime” is laughable to anyone who has actually been involved in the work of the city these past four years and not just criticizing from the bleachers. The following is not a complete list, but only a few of the things the former mayor accomplished during his time in office.

My friend, the late Charles Biggs was one of my favorite columnists. Not long before he passed away he wrote one of my favorites, which I wanted to share today… Someone sent me a copy of a letter to the editor written by Ken Huber of Tawas City, Michigan.

Like every other means of written communication (and some unwritten), the church bulletin can be taken out of context. A nurse friend of mine collected these goodies and shared them.
