WOLVERINE SPORTS BY TOM TURNER

Body
The Holdenville Wolverines opened their 2022-23 basketball season on the road last week and took one on the chin at Caddo. The girl’s lost the opening game by a score of 28-66 and the boys lost by a score of 40-65. Both teams will play again on Tuesday when they travel to Seminole. The boys and girls are both expected to have good seasons but things didn’t go Holdenville’s way at Caddo. Traditionally, basketball season can be divided into three sub seasons. The first is the pre-Holiday season, next is the post-Holiday season and the last would naturally be the play-offs. There’s still lots of games to be played before the Holidays. Holdenville will play eight more times before Christmas break and all of those games will be on the road. Holdenville will play their first home game on January10. There’s plenty of time for improvement before the play-offs begin in late February.
