I attended the First United Bank open hours Thursday and saw a lot of friends I had not seen in a long time. That included my life long friends Tony and Carolyn Abney from Non. They have been banking there for over half a century. I have never known a harder working couple and the same goes for their son Tim. When anyone needs help you can count on their family to be there . . .

Winning! There’s something really unique about standing on the awards stand at the state track meet! Athletes who have earned the honor of having someone place a lanyard around their neck with a state medal attached will tell you it’s one of the best if not the best feelings of winning you could possibly experience! Eddie Jennings and Blakeli Whiteman earned the right to have that thrill this past week at the state track meet at Western Heights. Both athletes stepped on the podium in front of a home stand filled with cheering fans and experienced the thrill of an athletic lifetime! Blakeli finished 6th and Eddie stood on the highest level as their state medals were placed around their neck.
Lisa Lester and Maggie King are excited to announce the opening of their new business, Fur Babies Spaw. They have years of experience grooming and caring for animals. Go by and see them at 117 South Broadway in Holdenville for all of your dog grooming needs.

I am, and shall forever be, in baseball season until the last out of the last game of the World Series. Although it’s doubtful my favorite team will win the Series this year I will, nevertheless, watch nearly every game. I suspect my children will watch or listen to many of the games too. You see, there is a genetic defect in my family. Devotion to baseball was bred into me by my father and I am a carrier of the gene.
