Holdenville played host to their first cross country meet of the year last weekend with over a dozen teams traveling to Holdenville Lake to compete in the Wolverine Invitational. The meet has traditionally had 30-40 teams, but the viral conditions of 2020 has caused the meet to down scale.

Holdenville head track and cross-country coach, Ryan Turner, has had seventy-five to one hundred Holdenville participants in the past but this year’s number of participants was considerably smaller.

The Wolverines will host three meets at the lake this fall. There will be a late season high school middle school meet and a huge elementary school meet in September. The cross country team has been working out for several weeks and Coach Turner has been pleased with the teams dedication and effort.

Leigha Phillips was Holdenville’s top finisher in the mile run with a 12 th place finish. Kailyn Johnson finished 18 th and Laynee Phillips finished 21 st .

Dallas Davenport finished 11 th in the middle school boy’s division.

Daisy Wood led the Wolverine Elementary crew with a 3 rd place finish. Other Holdenville finishers were Aiden Story 14 th , Bentley Krause15th, Rowdy Rhine 17 th and Josh Olney 22 nd .
