Our sympathy to the family of Virgie Crawford
Virgie Crawford, age 87, of Amarillo, Texas and formerly of Holdenville, Oklahoma, passed away on March 29, 2026, with her son and daughterin- law, Mark and Kathy, by her side.
She was born on May 2, 1938, in Lamar, Oklahoma, to Willie and Lula Beck. She married Jack Crawford on September 24, 1960, and together they built a life centered around family, love, and hard work. In April of 1970, after years of dreaming, praying, and waiting, they received a call that would complete their family. There was a baby boy waiting for them in Oklahoma City for adoption, and from that day forward, they became the best parents anyone could ever ask for.
Virgie was known for her kind heart and lifelong friendships. She loved spending time with friends and staying connected to the people she cared about. Her family was her greatest joy, and she spent her entire life taking care of the people she loved.
She is survived by her son, Mark of Amarillo, Texas; four grandchildren, Lauryn Haines of Sparks, Nevada, Matthew Crawford of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Paige Wignall of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Ryan Crawford of Norman, Oklahoma; and two great-grandchildren, Cash and Skylar Haines of Sparks, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, in 2009, and her brother, Donald, in 2015. After Jack passed, Virgie moved to Nevada and later Texas to be near her family once again. She loved and missed her friends and family she left behind in and around Holdenville, Oklahoma.
The family would like to thank the staff of Gentiva Hospice and Care Cottage for the care and love shown to her and our family this past month.
A private burial will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest in Holdenville Cemetery next to her husband, Jack, her parents and brother.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved by her family.
