Louis McGeeley, Jr was born on July 10, 1957 in Holdenville, OK to Ida (Harjo) and Louis Mc-Geeley, Sr. He started his new life on September 21, 2024.
Junior was raised in Yeager, OK. He loved to tell people he played basketball for Yeager and when he made the move over to Holdenville High School he excelled in baseball. Growing up raising peanuts and animals, he had to be a hard worker. After graduating high school he moved to Coweta, OK and he began his career at Hale Halsell in Tulsa. Working for the company for 30 years until they closed their doors. During this time, he was blessed with his son Tim and daughter Alyssa. Louis enjoyed coaching the Coweta Patriots baseball team and Coweta little league football. He continued sharing the stories of these teams long after all the players were grown, undoubtedly proud of them all.
There was rarely a time he was not busy. He worked and made many friends over the years at Muscogee Nation Business Enterprises, Southwest Industries, and Cherokee Builders before his last job as a CHR for Creek Nation Elder Services. His passion though was the church.
He had a big heart for his home church, Salt Creek Methodist Church. He was a youth leader in the 80s for the Northeast District, running the youth camp many summers. He willingly shared that he was not perfect and had tried to live life away from the church but, he changed his life in the early 2000s and returned to ministry. He was a lay speaker at Salt Creek and served at Tokvbvche Methodist Church before
taking an appointment as a lay missioner at Concharty Methodist Church in 2015. He was happy to carry his family legacy of ministry, sharing he was the third generation to share a message in some churches. He served as a trustee of the Northeast District Center. His current appointment was to Pickett Chapel United Methodist Church in 2020. He preached his final sermon on Sunday, September 15.
He loved his family and was prepared to boast of his three grandchildren any time he could. He could be found in the bleachers or at the concession stand at many of their games. He liked to say Rylee, Switzer, and Lincoln got their athleticism from him. Junior shared his love of sports with Tim spending time watching football, baseball, basketball and even wrestling. He regarded Kendall as his daughter not just daughter in law and often requested her opinion for the final decision. He was happy to be an OU dad attending Alyssa’s graduation in May.
Junior is survived by his children Tim and Kendall McGeeley of Glenpool, and Alyssa McGeeley of Gardiner, MT. Grandchildren: Rylee, Switzer, and Lincoln McGeeley. Siblings Idalene Taylor, Jennie McGeeley and Wayne McGeeley of Holdenville.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents Ida (Harjo) and Louis Mc-Geeley Sr. Brothers Robert McGeeley and Beaver Ward, and niece, Ida Taylor.
