I spent my first two years of college in Nashville, TN, which I considered as getting my education in “The South.”

But I soon learned that to discover the REAL South, one had to go deeper, like the

Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, even Virginia and its Western expansion, etc.

My Midwestern twang was barely noticed, except maybe from some of the Yankee students from up North.
