Good morning everyone. Hope everyone is starting this New Year with renewed hope for a better year in 2021. You may not feel blessed right now – perhaps you are battling a bad case of discouragement or frustration or Covid, but we are blessed in CHRIST all the time. We simply have to remind ourselves to walk in the light and acknowledge the LORD as our lamp. Ephesians 1:3 and 5:8 tell us: “Blessed be the GOD and FATHER of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, Who has blessed us with all spiritual blessings in HEAVENLY places in CHRIST … Walk as Children of light.”

ADA – East Central University is recognizing students for their outstanding academic work during the Fall 2020 semester by naming them to the President’s Honor Roll. The President’s Honor Roll is reserved for students who earn A’s in all of their courses for a perfect 4.0 GPA.

Are you ready for 2021? I am, and right now I’m happy to be looking back at some things I won’t miss about 2020. Some words and terms have become synonymous with this horrible year, and I vow not to waste my time with them in 2021.

Monday, January 11, our dear friend Ida, the daughter of Rhea Horn celebrated her birthday. She is a very special lady and we hope her birthday was great! Also today, January 12, George Kernek celebrated his birthday.

A trio of items during the January 5 City Council meeting focused on the effort to tackle the problem of theft and other crimes in the community. This included an agreement with Oklahoma Mutual Assurance Group (OMAG) to install GPS in police vehicles, the hiring of a new police officer, and the acquisition of T-Mobile phones for the Neighborhood Watch program.

Holdenville musician Boone Griffin has played bass guitar with a number of impressive local and regional bands over the years. For the past two years he has been a vital member of the Tanner Sparks Band. Tanner Sparks is a 22-year-old up and coming singer/songwriter from east Texas who performs “Old Fashioned Country Music.” His baritone voice fits the songs he writes like a custom made pair of boots. Many of the songs are about heart break and hard drinking that bring to mind country music legends such as George Jones or Hank Williams Sr., but with Tanner’s own, unique sound and style.

U.S.—Americans have reported they’re very optimistic about the stimulus package passed by Congress last week. In particular, people all around the country are excited to get paid with a little bit of the money that they paid the federal government already.

“How do I know if I should leave my church?” It’s a question everyone wonders from time to time—and not one to take lightly. Transitioning between churches can be a messy time in the life of the Christian and his or her family and church body.
