What started with an minor water leak on 13 Street and North Bullitt became the start of a major crisis faced by the City of Holdenville. A 2 inch water line break at 13th and North Bullitt caused major obstacles in travel down North Hinckley between 12th Street and 13th Street when it turned to frozen sheets of ice down 12th and across Hinckley over Valentine’s Day weekend. The ice and snow covered ground along with subzero temperatures made it impossible to dig and fix the broken line. While the ice-covered roads were a problem, this leak had little effect on the city’s water production which had maintained a normal level over the weekend.

Charges are pending after a Wetumka suspect was arrested for allegedly stealing more than $1,500 worth of merchandise from a Holdenville business. The Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors are making plans for a return to a more normal schedule after spending most of the past year avoiding large social events.
