Holdenville Schools go virtual beginning Friday

Due to the multiple number of confirmed positive cases of staff members and students over the past several days and weeks, along with the number of staff and students being quarantined through contact tracing, Holdenville Schools will be virtual learning Friday, September 3, 2021 and will return to in-person learning on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Monday, September 6, 2021 there will be no school in observance of Labor Day.

Two Holdenville police officers showed incredible bravery on the night of August 20, while responding to a call at Walmart concerning suspect Devin McKee. McKee had a warrant out for his arrest and Officers Jackson and Grizzle had already been on the lookout for him.

OHP: Hughes County woman dies after vehicle rolls

A Hughes County woman died after the car she was driving rolled over, according to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report. OHP investigators reported Shirley Snow, 83, of Calvin, died in a single-vehicle incident Thursday afternoon about three miles west of Stuart.

Tuesday night, August 24, Holdenville Police officers responded to a call of a possible grand theft auto in progress at the Dollar General Store in Holdenville. Upon making contact with the suspect, Missy Harjo, she began to flee the scene in her car which led to a multi-county, multi-agency pursuit.

Latest COVID report shows decrease in county

There were 31 new COVID-19 cases reported in Hughes County last week. Slightly less than the 43 reported two weeks ago, but officials say we are not out of the woods yet. Cases continue to rise across the state. Integris Health, SSM Health and Mercy each reported that they had no available intensive-care unit beds. OU Health said it has no available beds for COVID-19 patients.

I have not seen clear statistical evidence that fewer Christians die of cancer than non-believers or that they are immune in greater degree from the diseases that afflict the human race. Some of the kindest, most selfless persons I have known have had more than their share of bad health.
