Virtual learning begins today for Holdenville Public Schools; in person learning on hold

Dear Holdenville Students, Parents, Staff, and Community,

Today, the district has received notification that a staff member has tested positive for COVID-19. While we must protect the privacy of the person involved, I believe it is best to communicate transparently with you so that well-informed decisions can be made for your family.

Our first priority is the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and community during this pandemic. We are working with local and Sate Health Department officials to address the situation. They recommend we share the following information with you. A staff member in the Child Nutrition department has tested positive for COVID-19 virus. Our entire staff throughout the district is required to meet all Personal Protective Equipment Protocol set forth by CDC, State Health Department, and districts requirement for wearing masks, shields, and gloves. Each person(s) who test positive with the virus will be required to follow all CDC and State Health Department quarantine procedures.

The district will be completely closed for sanitizing Monday, August 24 and will begin virtual learning Tuesday, August 25,2020 through Friday, August 28,2020. The district along with the County Health Department officials at that point will determine if it is safe to return to in-person learning.

All activities and events will be postponed until the district reopens for in-person learning.

COVID-19 is transmitted through person-to-person contact and through the exchange of respiratory droplets. As more cases are being confirmed in Hughes County and across the state, it is important to be sensible, but also vigilant in reducing the spread of the virus. Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, and shortness of breath along with the loss of taste. If you or any member of your family exhibits any of these symptoms, please contact your medical provider for advice immediately.
