Our longtime friend, H.B. Jones of Calvin may be the last WWII Veteran in Hughes County. He served in Fleet Air Wing 1 of the United States Navy, seeing action in the South Pacific. In my visit with H.B., he told me when he joined the service, they said they couldn’t accept him without his full name.
