Holdenville Schools to back up start date to August 20
Holdenville Public Schools will be moving the start of school from August 13, 2020 to August 20, 2020 to ensure all safety measures are in place and allow staff to prepare for any virtual learning for the upcoming school year. During the week of Thursday, August 13, 2020 through Wednesday, August 19, 2020, teachers will be doing mock teaching lessons through our virtual learning platform, Google Classroom. During this time teachers will be presenting lessons and making adjustments for students to have the capabilities to log on to the Google Platform along with additional education software package’s approved for your child’s grade level. A schedule will be released August 12, 2020 for log in times during that week for parents and students to check connectivity to the Google Classroom Platform.
The district is encouraging parents and stu dents to log on to the Google Classroom system in order for the districts’ staff to make the appropriate adjustments to the virtual system. Several of you have chosen the virtual route for learning, and we are eager to accommodate your child to reach their educational goals through virtual learning during this unprecedented time, with the Covid-19 virus. Also during this time the district is taking additional steps to ensure the safety of your child while here on campus.
Our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of every student in our district along with our staff and community members. Over the last couple of weeks, we have seen a spike in the number of cases related to Covid-19 in our county. We continue to monitor the virus situation on a daily basis and are adjusting accordingly. Through state and local governments along with the health department information, we are making every attempt to provide an in person and virtual learning environment to meet the needs of our students.
We have already released the adjusted schedule for “Meet Your Teacher Night”. Please follow the schedule for when your child is to come meet with their teacher. It is imperative you follow the schedule to reduce the number of patrons within each of our facilities for precautions. The district released the 3 Levels of Precaution and still at this time we are currently under level 1, in person learning. The Safety precaution stage will be released August 11, 2020.
Thank you for your continued support of Holdenville Public Schools.
Sincerely,
Randy Davenport
