Eileene Stirman honored on 100th birthday

Eileene Varley Stirman of Holdenville, Oklahoma was born on August 17, 1920. She is currently of the Heritage Village and N.H. in Holdenville. Her Birthday Celebration was made special by Staff but was quiet without company due to the Covid-19 Virus Pandemic of 2020.

Her biological Mother died shortly after her birth. She and older sister Reba Varley Holmes were born (in Okmulgee) to Daniel Boone Varley and raised by Father and Step Mother in Holdenville. “Boone” Varley was a Home Builder and built many homes in Holdenville, including the family home on Hughes Street where four children would be raised following WWII. First born MAJ (ret) George R. Stirman III

was born at now Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio, followed by John V. Stirman, Susan Stirman and Paul Stirman born in Holdenville.

Following the death of G.R.Stirman, Jr. in 1971, Eileene took charge of the former Eckles & Stirman Hartford Insurance Co. in business for 68 years before sold to the late Jack Booth.

Eileene had also worked for Vera and Sonny Chesnutt Motor Company for some time then later assisted John and Teresa Stirman in the acquired “Majors Florist” business for a few years.

Eileene served as Boy Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout Leader and hosted many Bridge Club parties. She is also a member of the Bernard United Methodist Church.

Her family members include: M/M G. R. Stirman III and Nancy of Perry, OK, M/M John and Teresa Stirman of Holdenville, Ms. Susan Stirman at the Heritage Village and M/M Paul and Lori Stirman of Grove, Oklahoma.

Grandchildren are Mary Margaret Stirman-Ambler of Olathe, KS and Amy Marie Stirman-Roy of Overland Park, KS, and John Michael Stirman of Houston, TX.

Eileene is blessed with 8 Great Grandchildren in Kansas and Texas. Mr. Jack Holmes, son of the late Bud Holmes and Reba Holmes of Holdenville is her nephew.

Committed to Education, Reading, Sports and Music, Eileene has been an inspiration and great moral support to her children, her grand children and great grand-children.

Lastly, Daughter in-Law Nancy Roberts Stirman said, “ She is loved, respected and admired by many. She has devoted most of her 100 years in life as leading Counselor and support of her family. She’s a wise and strong woman who has given much wisdom and strength with tough Love sometimes, but I truly adore and love Eileene.”
