Fall Art Show Winners Announced

Body
This year’s Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors (HSPS) Fall Art Show has been a low key event compared to years past. There was no gathering of artists for a lunch with judge Judy Osborn, and there was no crowded Open House, which normally would have been on October 3, for the public to enjoy their first preview of the entries. However, after cancelling the Spring Art Show, organizers took on the challenges caused by the COVID 19 virus, and the walls were filled with an impressive collection of artwork for the public to enjoy responsibly with masks and proper social distancing.

Tower Repair May Cause Low Water Pressure

Body
During the November 3 City Council meeting Mayor John Massad announced that, before starting repair work on the Adams Street water tower, the water is being allowed to drain down as it is used. This is to prevent wasting water by draining it out on the ground. Some customers in the area of Sooner Road/Country Club may experience low water pressure during this time, and Mayor John Massad asks that they please be patient. Once the water level is low enough the water lines will cut off to bypass the tower and pressure should return.

Wolverine Sports by Tom Turner

Body
The Holdenville Wolverines played host to an extremely good Christian Heritage team last Friday and dropped a hard fought contest by a score of 29-14. The game was much closer than the score would indicate. Holdenville was behind 21-6 in the 4th quarter when they scored and added two more points on the conversion. The Wolverines had closed the gap to 21-14 and Holdenville had the Crusaders on their heels. That’s when things got weird. Holdenville attempted an onside kick and a Crusader defender signaled for a fair catch and dropped the ball. Holdenville recovered the dropped kick and Coach Lewis prepared to send the Wolverine offense back on the field. It was an obvious fair catch signal and an obvious fumble. Obvious to everyone but the officials said there was an inadvertent whistle and the rule called for a re-kick. The Holdenville coaches were obviously upset and wanted an explanation. There was no explanation just a matter of fact that there would be a re-kick because one of the officials had blown his whistle pre-maturely. The Holdenville sideline was obviously upset and the referee flagged Holdenville twice. Now, the game had changed! Holdenville was forced to re-kick from their own fifteen yard line.
Wolverine charge.... Holdenville blockers # 20, Tatum Sanford and # 25, Elisha Tiger lead the charge to clear the way for # 4, Christian Zambrono. The Wolverines will travel to Crooked Oak this Friday for their last regular scheduled game.
