Airport Road to be Named After Hometown Hero

The Holdenville City Council voted unanimously last Tuesday night to rename the section of road running adjacent to the Holdenville National Guard Armory “Brigadier General J.C. Daugherty Memorial Road”. Many of our readers remember J.C. Daugherty as an attorney and community leader here in Holdenville, but many of you may not know of the extent of his accomplishments both in civilian and military life.

Concerned Citizens Speak at City Council Meeting

Last Tuesday’s city council meeting opened with comments from several very concerned citizens of Holdenville. The first of four to speak was Trey Martch who addressed the council saying, “For those of you who don’t know me I am William Edward Martch III or “Trey”.

VA Partners with Holdenville General Hospital

Holdenville General Hospital recently joined the Department of Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (CCN). The CCN is a network of highly qualified, credentialed community health care providers such as Holdenville General Hospital, that work with VA providers to ensure Veterans receive the health care services they need when they are unable to receive care at a VA facility. Instead of traveling to VA facilities hours away, Veterans can get the care they need right here at home.

American Legion to Host Reception for Veterans

Thursday, November 14, our local American Legion Post will have a reception for all area veterans from 8:00 to 12:00 noon at the new local Legion building, 211 E. Main. For many years, Post 32 has not had a building. Thanks to local businessman Reggie Davis, they were given the building and with local donations are renovating the inside. It is not yet finished, but we are proud of all the work that has been done up to this point.

Holdenville drops hard fought contest to CHA

The final score (43-19) may not indicate a hard fought football game but if one considers the score was 14-12 at half-time it’s easier to put the game in perspective. Holdenville scored two touchdowns in the first half and Christian Heritage Academy (CHA) scored two.
