The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics (OBN) assisted by the Hughes County Sheriff’s Department served a search warrant at an illegal marijuana growing operation at 7274 EW County Road 145 in Atwood on Wednesday March 16. Mark Woodward, public information officer for the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, stated that this farm did not have an Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) or an OBN license to grow marijuana and the owners/operators were selling their product on the black market out-of-state. OBN seized approximately 6,000 plants and 2,600 pounds of processed marijuana. Mr. Woodward said the raid was part of an ongoing investigation that is expected to result in multiple arrests.

Smith, District #22 District Attorney for Hughes, Seminole & Pontotoc Counties has issued the following statement: The District Attorneys Drug and Violent Crime Task Force in collaboration with the OSBI, Seminole & Hughes County Sheriffs offices as well as the Seminole Police Department and the OBN have been actively involved in an on-going investigation into allegations of Robbery, Kidnapping, and Drug Trafficking at alleged Licensed MMJ Grow farms in Seminole and Hughes Counties.

Thanks to a generous donation from Water-Bridge, Holdenville Lake has brand new fire pits for several camping points. The fire pits were made by Oklahoma Correctional Industries and will be a much-welcomed addition to the lake. WaterBridge also donated seven, ten-wheeler loads of gravel to the lake.

Hughes County Sheriff’s Deputies, Brad Arnold and David Cook were dispatched to a call in Lamar on Saturday, March 5 where, dispatch advised them, someone was ramming a truck with their vehicle while shooting at it. Upon arrival Deputy Arnold ordered all subjects to get on the ground. He then approached a man he identified as Chris Wingo and put him in handcuffs. Witnesses stated that Chris Wingo had entered the property of Tyler Bible and started chasing Tyler in his truck. They stated that Wingo had rammed into the back of Bible’s truck with his truck and began shooting at Bible with a pistol before ditching his revolver in the grass when the police arrived. No one was injured by any of the shots fired by Wingo.
