The Golden Pride Marching Band participated in the OSSAA Regional Marching Contest in McAlester recently and for the third year in a row brought home straight Superior ratings! The band is phenomenal this year and we are so proud of their achievements under Holdenville Band Director Sam Crosby and Assistant Band Director McKean Akin, pictured at left.

Our dear friend Dr. Steven Pray wrote an article about several years ago about his growing up years in Holdenville. Many of our new readers have never had the opportunity to read this article so today we want to share part one.

Durant, OK – Each year, the American Bankers Association (ABA) recognizes the nation’s best bank marketing initiatives at the ABA Bank Marketing Conference. The 2022 Brand Slam awards honored elite bank marketing strategies that stood out among hundreds of nationwide entries from banks of all sizes.

The Holdenville Wolverines earned their 6th win of the year last Thursday with a lopsided 48-6 win at Coalgate. The Wolverines scored 3 touchdowns in the first quarter and put the game out of reach by scoring 3 more touchdowns in the second quarter. Cash Carter scored Holdenville’s first touchdown on a 32 yard run with 8:39 remaining in the first quarter. Izaia King scored less than 2 minutes later on a 52 yard run and Cy Tiger added a 2 point conversion to up the score to 14-0. King scored again on a 13 yard run in the closing seconds of the first stanza and Tatum Sanford added 2 more points on the conversion to raise the score to 22-0.

Former state Sen. Josh Brecheen spoke in Holdenville on August 29th to local citizens including, Mayor Massad, as part of his ongoing congressional campaign. He spoke about values, traditions, history, and policy.
