Reed Elementary’s Teacher of the Year for the 2022/2023 school year is Mrs. Jennifer Lening. Mrs. Lening grew up in Hughes County and graduated from Moss High School in 2005. She earned her associates degree from Eastern Oklahoma State College and went on to earn her bachelors degree from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. This is Mrs. Lening’s 11th year of teaching and her 7th year at Reed Elementary, where she currently teaches 3rd grade. Her teaching experience ranges from Pre-K to 8th grade and even Elementary P.E. Mrs.

NEW YORK – Emmy Award-winning composer Jerod Tate is preparing for a Carnegie Hall performance this March featuring famed Chickasaw astronaut and former Wetumka resident, John Herrington. Born in 1958, Herrington’s coming-of-age story unfolded during the golden years of space exploration.
