Sen. Ally Seifried, R-Claremore, has filed legislation creating a pilot program to allow Oklahoma public schools to create phone-free school sites. Senate Bill 1321 would provide grant-style funding for up to nine middle or high schools to cover the costs associated for sites going cellphone free for the duration of the school day.

The year 1904 marked a pivotal moment for Holdenville as the completion of the waterworks became imminent. The Holdenville City Council procured 1000 feet of fire hose. Accompanying this acquisition is a reel, and soon hooks and ladders were added to our firefighting arsenal. The foundation for a robust firefighting apparatus was laid, but what became immediately necessary was a corps of trained firemen ready to handle this equipment.
