Body
The cheerleaders constituted the backbone of our school spirit with their vim and vigor which urged Cubs to victory. Their lusty yells filled every silence— They were the Cub Cheerleaders—the essence of school spirit.

HUGHES COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY OPEN ALUMNI WEEKEND

Body
You may have noticed some activity around the Hughes County Historical Society and Museum in the past few weeks. Our windows have needed repair for some time now due to age and Oklahoma weather. The windows recently became an immediate need on our list due to continued decay of the wood and other issues with the glass itself. Generous donations from various members and community partners have made it possible to initiate repairs beginning with the windows that were in the worst shape and in need of immediate repair. A special thanks goes to the Holdenville Class of 1964 for their donation and multiple other donations too numerous to name.

JULIE WILKINSON RECENTLY SUBMITTED THIS PICTURE OF A PAINTED BUNTING IN HER BACK YARD

Body

With their vivid fusion of blue, green, yellow, and red, male Painted Buntings seem to have flown straight out of a child’s coloring book. Females and immatures are a distinctive bright green with a pale eyering. These fairly common songbirds breed in the coastal Southeast and in the south-central U.S., where they often come to feeders. They are often caught and sold illegally as cage birds, particularly in Mexico and the Caribbean, a practice that puts pressure on their breeding populations.
