The Holdenville High School Powerlifting Team has earned the title of state champions! In Two divisions! The freshmen powerlifters won the state championship trophy in their division and the varsity is bringing home the state championship trophy if their division.
Waylon Jeffrey is the freshman state champion powerlifter in 220 pound division! Waylon posted a total of 1095 pounds!

April Deonne Pryor, of Holdenville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2026. She was a woman of unwavering faith, deep love, and incredible strength. Her relationship with the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she lived each day as a reflection of His grace. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Rath, and a fiercely loving mother to her children, Hailey, Riley and Rohby. Her family was her greatest joy, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was their rock, protector, encourager, and safe place.

Matthew Ray Sanford passed away Saturday, March 14th, 2026 at Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada, Oklahoma at the age of 41. Matthew was born June 5th, 1984 in Ada, Oklahoma to Danny Lee Sanford of Holdenville and Lela Ann Warledo of Tulsa.

HOLDENVILLE — The Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors (HSPS) is continuing its mission to support local senior citizens through the arts with its ongoing Creative Journeys program. The initiative provides free monthly art classes designed to encourage creativity, learning, and social connection among seniors in Hughes County.

HOLDENVILLE — A championship tradition has returned to Holdenville. The Holdenville powerlifting team captured the Class 2A State Championship, marking the program’s first state title since the powerhouse era of the 1990s when legendary coach Butch Rawls led the Wolverines to multiple state championships and national titles.
THE FRESHMEN POWERLIFTING TEAM IS THE BEST IN THE STATE! The team easily out performed all the competition at the state meet in El Reno! Team members are:Keshaun Hill, Pedro Casio-Harris, Titus Gomez, Waylon Jeffrey, Jayden Hall, Jared Soria, Kendall Couffer, Kaden Couffer
