The Holdenville High School Powerlifting Team has earned the title of state champions! In Two divisions! The freshmen powerlifters won the state championship trophy in their division and the varsity is bringing home the state championship trophy if their division.

April Deonne Pryor, of Holdenville, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 11, 2026. She was a woman of unwavering faith, deep love, and incredible strength. Her relationship with the Lord was the foundation of her life, and she lived each day as a reflection of His grace. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, Rath, and a fiercely loving mother to her children, Hailey, Riley and Rohby. Her family was her greatest joy, and there was nothing she wouldn’t do for them. She was their rock, protector, encourager, and safe place.

Matthew Ray Sanford passed away Saturday, March 14th, 2026 at Chickasaw Nation Medical Center in Ada, Oklahoma at the age of 41. Matthew was born June 5th, 1984 in Ada, Oklahoma to Danny Lee Sanford of Holdenville and Lela Ann Warledo of Tulsa.

HOLDENVILLE — The Holdenville Society of Painters and Sculptors (HSPS) is continuing its mission to support local senior citizens through the arts with its ongoing Creative Journeys program. Officers with the Holdenville Police Department, with assistance from the Hughes County Sheriff’s Office, executed a search warrant on Monday, March 9, 2026, at a residence located in the 100 block of West 5th Street in Holdenville as part of an investigation into a reported larceny at a local business.

HOLDENVILLE — A championship tradition has returned to Holdenville. The Holdenville powerlifting team captured the Class 2A State Championship, marking the program’s first state title since the powerhouse era of the 1990s when legendary coach Butch Rawls led the Wolverines to multiple state championships and national titles.
