f you’ve only paid attention to the legacy media over the past few days; you probably know more about Renee Good’s poetry than you do about the actions that led to her tragic death last Wednesday. After refusing federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers’ commands to get out of her car, which she had used to impede agents’ access to a neighborhood road, Good was caught on video accelerating her SUV toward one agent with another hanging on her door. The agent in front of her vehicle fatally shot her as the car appeared to hit him.

NON-PROFIT RECEIVES $1.5 MILLION AFFORDABLE HOUSING GRANT FOR HOUSING REHABILITATION PROJECT

The Center for Community Transformation (CCT) in partnership with Security State Bank was awarded $1.5 Million through FHLBank Topeka’s 2025 Affordable Housing Program (AHP). This year $33.9 million in AHP grants were made in partnership with FHLBank Topeka’s member financial institutions in Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska and Oklahoma.. A total of 31 AHP projects will give 1,764 very low-, low- and moderate-income households a place to call home.

Coy Tucker passed away Thursday, January 1st, 2026, in McAlester, Oklahoma at the age of 92. Coy was born April 14, 1933, in Non, Oklahoma to Jack Tucker and Mary Nova (Ramsey) Tucker.

Caroline Chesnutt, the only surviving child of Clyde W. Chesnutt, invites you to her father’s Celebration of Life. Clyde passed away at home in Albuquerque at age 93. Friends and family will gather at Barnard Memorial United Methodist Church, Holdenville, where Clyde first preached, on Saturday morning, January 17th at 11:00 o’clock A.M. to remember his life and legacy of family and service. Rev. Sarah Miller will officiate with Clyde’s brother, Rev. Lon Chesnutt of Catonsville, MD giving the homily. Brother Ken Chesnutt will give brief remarks. Brother Tom Chesnutt will be his timekeeper.

ALLAN GAMBLE CORRECTIONAL CENTER VETERANS PROGRAM GIVES BACK

The Allan Gamble Correctional Center’s Veterans Program was established in 2025. The group meets weekly and provides services and outreach to the offender population. Veteran participants, along with volunteers, make weekly rounds to the maximum- security and segregation units, offering mental-health support and encouragement to fellow veterans.
