A Seminole couple that greatly enjoys traveling have seen most of the world, visiting six of the seven continents, and they are hoping to visit the final one in the not too distant future. Former Seminole Fire Chief Roy Boydstun, a graduate of Holdenville High School and his wife, Mary, have been traveling the world since taking their first trip abroad with a church group that toured Europe in 1996.

Tommie Troup was born in Yeager, Oklahoma on April 23rd, 1932, to Ben Thorton Massingale and Bennie Lou (Moore) Massingale. She was the youngest one of nine children. Her siblings were Urpal, Inez, Jaunita, Ambrie Lee, Bill, Mary, Jo Marie, and Bobby. She graduated from Yeager high school in 1951. She married B. Ray Troup, and she was the love of his life. They made their home at 800 South Gulf in Holdenville, Oklahoma. With this union, she become a mother to Mike, Mary, and Mark Troup along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Tommie was known for her love of animals. There was always a puppy in her lap. She spent many hours driving around Holdenville in her golf cart, checking on all the animals.

Wolverine Basketball Team Dominates Summer Camps Holdenville Head Basketball Coach, Dillion Snow, has multiple good reasons to be proud of his team’s progress over the summer. The Wolverines played some tough competition in June and posted an impressive 34-4 record.

Ain’t This A Wonderful Country! The wind was whipping my pants pretty hard and I could hear the dust hitting my car, parked there in front of the courthouse of Cimmaron County— Boise City, Oklahoma. An impressive plaque recounted the date (July 5, 1943) that the Air Force, by mistake bombed Boise City.

At one time Hughes County was considered the peanut capitol of Oklahoma. There were several storage facilities, including the Calvin Pickle Company and the silos pictured above here in Holdenville. They were built over half a century ago and were torn down last month after years of neglect.

ON JUNE 13, 2024, ARBUCKLE FEDERAL CREDIT UNION HOSTED A BINGO TO AID THE HUGHES COUNTY EXPO AND MOSS ELEMENTARY PTA IN RAISING FUNDS TO BUY EQUIPMENT AND TO HELP THEIR SUPPORT ACTIVITIES. Employees of the Credit Union and volunteers from both groups started the event by serving walking tacos. Arbuckle FCU offered 20 games of bingo with prizes for the winner of each game, including a $100 cash prize for the final blackout game. Between the bingo games, Sharilee Strickland — Arbuckle FCU’s CEO, presented the credit union difference as well as taught financial literacy car buying tips. This event was a tremendous success and helped the groups raised $1 ,042.00 towards their fundraising goal.

Two of those critically injured during the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Pennsylvania on Saturday are in stable condition, according to police. During the rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, Trump was struck in the ear by a bullet the FBI says was fired by 20-year old Thomas Matthew Crooks.

Mickey Gearl Lipe, age 92, of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away peacefully in his home July 3, 2024. He was born December 7, 1931 in Spaulding, Oklahoma to Delmus Gerome and Myrtle Mae Jackson.
