Twenty-seven band students from Holdenville Junior and Senior High Schools will compete with 469 other bandsmen Saturday at Oklahoma Baptist University, Shawnee, for positions in the All-District Bands.

VALEDICTORIANS ...also known as Quetzi, Q, Zali, Cat and Qz, is the daughter of Erika Rivera and has attended Holdenville Schools since 2019. She has been active in DECA, FCCLA, Key Club, NHS, Yearbook, Gifted & Talented, Student Council and Class Officer.

Larry “Byrd” Gene Harris passed away Thursday, May 4, 2023 in Talihina, Oklahoma at the age of 75. Larry was born May 4, 1948 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma to Thomas William Harris and Grace Alene (Davis) Harris.

My Daddy, my hero, Orville Eugene Rose, born February 1, 1936 in Hughes County to Fred A. Rose and Annabell (Arthur) Rose, crossed into eternity May 4, 2023.

Holdenville has a new Interim City Manager, Larry S. Mitchell, who brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role. Mitchell is a proven manager with extensive experience in public finance, strategic planning, intergovernmental relations, personnel management, economic development, contract negotiations, and capital project construction. He is an effective leader and decision-maker, with strong organizational and communication skills.

The Holdenville High School varsity track teams competed in the regional track meet last weekend and won 15 medals! Most importantly, a total of nine Wolverines punched their ticket to the state track meet. The Wolverine 4 x 100 boys’ and girls’ relay teams placed and earned the spot at the state track meet in Ardmore. In addition to the relays Brooklyn Nelms was runner-up in the 3200-meter run and will compete in that distance race at state.
