The state of Oklahoma wants the Justices to say it has inherent sovereign power to prosecute non-Native Americans who harm Natives within reservation boundaries.

The City of Holdenville is extremely grateful for the generous donation of $250,000 from the estate of Ivan and Viola Rowe to the Holdenville Cemetery. Mayor John Massad stated during the October 20, 2020 City Council meeting that the City originally learned about this potential contribution in June of 2020, although it took time for the legalities to be settled.

Jerry Dean Smith departed this life at the age of 73 years just as he would have chosen to go, on a fishing trip. Along with his good friend, Clayton Smith, Jerry passed away on Monday, April 25, 2022, in a boating accident at Keystone Lake in Cleveland, Oklahoma.
