Virginia Lee Smith

Virginia Lee Smith passed away Friday, May 3, 2024 in Edmond, Oklahoma at the age of 76.

Virginia was born on February 14, 1948 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Mr. Hubert Patrick and Georgia (Venable) Byerly. Virginia graduated from Holdenville High School Class of 1966. Virginia was the secretary for Holdenville High School for many years. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Women’s Auxiliary. Above all, she loved taking care of many by being a Mom, Nanny, second mom, and friend.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Smith; and her son, Stephen Hickerson.

She is survived by her son Jeffery Hickerson and wife Sunday of Edmon; eight grandchildren; four greatgrandchildren; and siblings, Alton Byerly, Bryan Byerly, and Jane Lumpkin. Virginia is also survived by numerous other relatives and friends. Funeral service will be 2 pm Tuesday May 7, 2024 at the Holdenville First Baptist Church with Pastor Dane Robinson officiating and burial to follow at Holdenville Cemetery under the direction of Hudson Phillips Funeral Home.

Pallbearers are Ryan Hickerson, Colten Hickerson, Zach Hickerson, Jesse Davis, Austin Moffat and Ty Scott. Honorary Pallbearers are Barry Davis and Joey Mooers.
